Welcome to the Common Sense and Whiskey Companion:
Guangxi Province, China.
Here are some photos from Common Sense and Whiskey, chapter 8, Guangxi Province, China. We took this trip long ago, in 1995. In those days we shot slide film and not too many photos survive now. You can buy professional prints of a few of these photos in the China Gallery. You can buy Common Sense and Whiskey on Amazon.com, or by clicking here.
Or, go back to Chapter 7: Chilean Patagonia, or on to Chapter 9: Sri Lanka

The Li River's karst topography is famous, and similar to Halong Bay, Vietnam. It flows through Guangxi Province, China. To sail on the Li, we flew into Guilin which, in 1995, was a whole lot different from the Chinese powerhouse we think of today.
Inside the "Traditional Chinese Medicine Hall of Attached Hospital to Guilin Medical College" with the resident Chi Kung expert. Here he works on Mirja's shoulder tension using his "bio-electrical acupuncture treatment." Note the electrical probe in Mirja's left hand. The expert plugged the probes into the wall, held the other and poked on the areas in question.
